Basketball Recap: Morrill Falls to Leyton in First Game of Season

Morrill unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were dealt a 66-17 loss at the hands of the Leyton Warriors on Thursday. The Lions lost against the Warriors in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 52-49 score last time.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jackson Adkins, who posted no points along with 11 rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Branham, who scored three points and nine boards.

Looking ahead, Morrill won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Potter-Dix at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Leyton, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll face off against Kimball at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
