Baseball Game Preview: Picayune Maroon Tide vs. Pass Christian Pirates

The Picayune Maroon Tide will venture away from home to square off against the Pass Christian Pirates at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Picayune is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Picayune is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Bay 14-2 on Friday. The Maroon Tide might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Cooper Moreaux, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Brunson Stockstill, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Picayune was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Pass Christian's offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Harrison on Friday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pass Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Picayune, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Picayune was able to grind out a solid victory over Pass Christian in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Picayune since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
