Basketball Game Preview: Three Rivers Christian Eagles vs. Sound Christian Lions

The Three Rivers Christian Eagles will take on the Sound Christian Lions in a holiday battle at at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Three Rivers Christian has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with 14 straight defeats, while Sound Christian will come in with three straight victories.

Three Rivers Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Columbia Adventist Academy on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Three Rivers Christian was dealt a 70-37 loss at the hands of Columbia Adventist Academy. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-20.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sound Christian). They breezed by North Beach to the tune of 78-38 on Friday. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 27 points or more this season.

Three Rivers Christian better keep an eye on Makai Resseau. He was instrumental in Sound Christian's win, going 8 of 14 en route to 20 points. Resseau's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Moses Stiver, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards.

Sound Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January.

Sound Christian's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.4 points. As for Three Rivers Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Three Rivers Christian took a serious blow against Sound Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 64-21. Can Three Rivers Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
