Softball Game Preview: Seneca Bobcats vs. Union City Bears

Seneca is 1-6 against Union City since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Bobcats will square off against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Seneca's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past North East 13-0. The Bobcats' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Union City came out on top against Youngsville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Bears put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-1 win. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly ten runs.

Grace Chapman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Tingley, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Union City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Union City and bumps their season record up to 9-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Seneca, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.

Seneca took their win against Union City when the teams last played last Wednesday by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
