Recap: Mt. Zion Bulldogs vs. Woodland Wolfpack

The Mt. Zion Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Woodland 59-55. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mt. Zion in their matchups with Woodland: they've now lost six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Mt. Zion lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaki Bell. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. The matchup was Bell's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ja'Shy Mackey, who scored 12 points.

Mason Lewis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Woodland, scoring 27 points along with six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Lewis has scored at least 25% of Woodland's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Edwards, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.

Mt. Zion's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-10. As for Woodland, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

Mt. Zion will head out on the road to face off against McDonough at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully McDonough focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday. As for Woodland, they will be playing at home against Hampton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
