Basketball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 32nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Bishop Heelan Catholic Crusaders, falling 89-11. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Crusaders are ranked 26th).

Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Bishop Heelan Catholic, their victory was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson will take on Denison-Schleswig at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bishop Heelan Catholic, they and Millard South will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Bishop Heelan Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Millard South likes a good challenge.
