Softball Recap: Indian Creek Has No Trouble Against Hiawatha

Indian Creek won the last time they faced Hiawatha and things went their way on Monday too. The Timberwolves were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Hawks. That looming 15-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Timberwolves yet this season.

MaKenna Barshinger and Avery Boehne made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Barshinger struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Boehne tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. At the plate, Barshinger went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Boehne went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two stolen bases. Those four hits gave Boehne a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mckenzie Greer was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Allie Peterson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Indian Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Indian Creek and bumps their season record up to 5-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Hiawatha, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Indian Creek will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
