Basketball Recap: Oxford Academy Comes Up Short

Oxford Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 39-31 to the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, with their most recent loss being a 47-25 defeat back in January.

Bainbridge-Guilford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marissa Mayo led the charge by dropping a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards. Jayslin Henderson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Oxford Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Bainbridge-Guilford, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, Oxford Academy and Bainbridge-Guilford will both be playing Walton the next time they take the court. Oxford Academy will head out to face Walton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Bainbridge-Guilford will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
