Baseball Recap: East Carteret Extends Winning Streak to 26

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but East Carteret had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the North Lenoir Hawks with a sharp 12-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mariners, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

East Carteret let Bryan Hadder and Jacob Grimm run wild. Hadder got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Grimm went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Hadder a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Piner, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.

East Carteret always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win keeps East Carteret at an undefeated 26-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average this season. As for North Lenoir, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.

As of now, neither East Carteret nor the Hawks have any future games scheduled.
