Basketball Recap: Ashe County Huskies vs. Hibriten Panthers
Ashe County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 47-39 to the Hibriten Panthers. The Huskies were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hibriten to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aamori Patterson, who went 7 of 11 en route to 18 points. Patterson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Karlee Starnes was another key player, putting up 11 points.
Ashe County's record is now 9-6. As for Hibriten, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ashe County has already played their next game (against Freedom), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hibriten is taking a road trip to challenge Watauga at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Watauga is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season.
