Softball Recap: Junction Comes Up Short

Junction easily dispatched Sabinal on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Eagles fell just short of the D'Hanis Cowboys by a score of 8-6 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 7-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2025.

Catalina Salinas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Addi Putnam was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Junction dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for D'Hanis, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Junction and D'Hanis will both be playing Hondo the next time they take the field. The Cowboys will host the Owls at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 10:30 a.m.
