Basketball Game Preview: West Seattle vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

West Seattle and Roosevelt are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. West Seattle will welcome the Roosevelt Roughriders at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. West Seattle has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

On Monday, West Seattle beat Lincoln 62-50.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt was able to grind out a solid victory over Eastside Catholic on Friday, taking the game 64-53. Given the Roughriders' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Crusaders are ranked 76th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Roosevelt's win came from a few key players West Seattle will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Emma Curtis, who went 7 of 10 on her way to 14 points and six boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Clara Swanson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Roosevelt is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for West Seattle, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.

West Seattle took a serious blow against Roosevelt in their previous matchup on January 3rd, falling 72-44. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Seattle was down 36-15.
