Baseball Recap: Carle Place Takes a Loss

Carle Place fell victim to Cold Spring Harbor and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Seahawks by a score of 1-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Frogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Thomas Schoch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carle Place saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Patrick McCarthy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Carle Place's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Cold Spring Harbor, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

While Carle Place had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
