Softball Game Preview: Bell Bulldogs vs. Branford Buccaneers

Bell is 1-9 against Branford since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Bell Bulldogs will host the Branford Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Bell's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Dixie County as Bell made off with an 11-0 victory. With that win, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Mayzie Carpenter, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Lizzie Bagby was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Bell hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Branford entered their tilt with Lafayette on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Buccaneers, who have now won three games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cloey Criggall was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandria Whitfield, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

The win snapped Bell's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-5 record. As for Branford, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
