Softball Recap: La Canada Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

With a playoff win on the line, La Canada rose to the challenge on Thursday. They never let the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

Bentley Lebrecque made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Labrecque, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ava Perry, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

La Canada always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wiseburn- Da Vinci only posted an OBP of .167.

La Canada pushed their record up to 18-6-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

La Canada will venture away from home to take on Lancaster at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. Wiseburn- Da Vinci does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
