Volleyball Game Preview: Moapa Valley Pirates vs. The Meadows School Mustangs

After both having extra time off, the Moapa Valley Pirates and The Meadows School Mustangs will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Moapa Valley turned things around against Boulder City on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Eagles.

Moapa Valley was especially dominant in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 25-11, 25-18.

Moapa Valley had a senior duo take command as Chloe Dalley had 21 digs and seven aces and Clari Frei had 15 digs.

Moapa Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last nine matchups.

Meanwhile, The Meadows School got the win against Cristo Rey St. Viator on Monday by a conclusive 3-0.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant The Meadows School was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-13, 25-4.

Moapa Valley better focus on containing Adyson Watkins and Piper Kennedy as the pair were huge in The Meadows School's win. Watkins had seven digs and two aces, while Kennedy hit 60% for six kills and 12 digs, three aces, and one block. The last time Kennedy's hitting percentage was this high was over her last three contests.

The Meadows School's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Moapa Valley, their win bumped their record up to 8-18.

Moapa Valley suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to The Meadows School in their previous meeting back in August. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
