Volleyball Recap: El Dorado Gets the Win

El Dorado hadn't done well against Ponderosa recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The El Dorado Cougars came out on top against the Ponderosa Bruins by a score of 3-1. For the Cougars, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Bruins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

El Dorado had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-22.

Their offense was headlined by Quinton Maciel and Cadence Hoyt, who picked up 13 kills apiece. They got some help from Henry Metropulos and his 25 assists. Leon Valdez controlled things from the service line, finishing with nine aces.

The win made it two in a row for El Dorado and bumps their season record up to 3-5. As for Ponderosa, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Dorado will welcome Cordova at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ponderosa, they will be playing at home against Christian Brothers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
