Football Game Preview: Boone Central Cardinals vs. Ord Chanticleers

The Boone Central Cardinals will head out to take on the Ord Chanticleers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Boone Central is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 34 points last Friday, they were much more limited against Grand Island Central Catholic on Friday. They were outmatched by the Crusaders and fell 37-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Cardinals were not able to get on the board.

Even if they lost, Boone Central's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Collin Spangler and Lenyn Ickler, who racked up four sacks between them. Ickler is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ord). They claimed a resounding 78-20 victory over Cross County. The win was familiar territory for the Chanticleers, who have now won five games in a row.

Ord's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Boone Central, they moved to 5-3 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Boone Central came up short against Ord when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 26-20. Can the Cardinals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
