Basketball Recap: Coosa Comes Up Short

Coosa was the 68-62 winner over Union County when they last played one another back in February of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Coosa Eagles had to suffer through a 90-51 loss at the hands of the Union County Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while the Panthers are ranked 50th).

Defeat or not, Coosa got some senior leadership from DJ Johnson and Reece Fuller. Johnson posted 12 points and eight rebounds, while Fuller had ten points and six rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for Johnson. Another player making a difference was Timbaland Mitchell, who put up four points and seven rebounds.

Coosa has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Union County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Coosa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-57 victory against Hayesville on the 28th. As for Union County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 83-62 win against Rabun County on the 28th.
