Grayslake North gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Waukegan Bulldogs with a sharp 16-1 victory.
Amber Takaki was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Takaki was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all two of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Elyse Gawerecki was a standout: she scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Raygen Moore was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Grayslake North will head out on the road to face off against Cary-Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Waukegan, they will take on Kennedy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
