Baseball Recap: Marquette Catholic Takes a Loss

If Marquette Catholic was riding high fresh off their 10-4 takedown of Granite City last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Explorers fell just short of the Collinsville Kahoks by a score of 8-7 on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Explorers in their meetings with the Kahoks: they've now lost six in a row.

Will Fahnestock made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Roth, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 9-5. As for Collinsville, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Marquette Catholic will venture away from home to take on Southwestern at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Collinsville, they will welcome Belleville West at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Kahoks their first taste of in-conference action this season.
