Softball Game Preview: Reading Blue Devils vs. Deer Park Wildcats

The Reading Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Deer Park Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Reading will be strutting in after a victory while Deer Park will be coming in after a defeat.

On Thursday, Reading made easy work of Madeira and carried off an 8-2 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Hailey Mowell was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Madison Berry, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Deer Park lost 18-4 to Reading on Wednesday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Deer Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rosalyn Stahley, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Stahley has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

The victory made it two in a row for Reading and bumps their season record up to 8-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Deer Park, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Reading took their victory against Deer Park in their previous matchup on Wednesday by a conclusive 18-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
