Basketball Recap: Mesa Jackrabbits vs. Mountain View Toros
The Mesa Jackrabbits entered their tilt with the Mountain View Toros with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Mesa secured a 44-38 W over the Toros on Tuesday. Given Mesa's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Toros are ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
John Petersen had an outrageously good game as he scored 19 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Conway Cummard, who scored eight points.
Mesa is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Mountain View, they dropped their record down to 10-15 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesa will face off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westwood is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Mountain View, they will head out on the road to square off against the Mountain Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
