Softball Preview: Carroll County Cavaliers vs. Patrick County Cougars

The Carroll County Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Patrick County Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Carroll County took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over Floyd County. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Carroll County considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Patrick County waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 10-3 win.

Journey Moore and Mckenzie Holt were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Moore struck out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Holt pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Moore has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances. At the plate, Moore went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and a double, while Holt scored a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Lilly Hazelwood was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
