West Springfield has gone 9-1 against Woodson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Spartans will challenge the Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. West Springfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

West Springfield is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering South County just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Stallions, falling 8-2. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

West Springfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clara Sutton, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Woodson fell victim to Lake Braddock and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bruins. The Cavaliers haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Woodson's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for West Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4.

Woodson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Springfield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Woodson, though, as they've been averaging 10.3 hits. Given West Springfield's sizable advantage in that area, the Cavaliers will need to find a way to close that gap.

West Springfield took their victory against Woodson when the teams last played on April 1st by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
