Baseball Recap: Safford Comes Up Short

Thursday just wasn't the day for Safford's offense. They came up short against the Gilbert Christian Knights on Thursday, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Safford saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zayden Sanchez, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double was Sanchez's first of the season.

Safford's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Gilbert Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Safford will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Thatcher at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. Gilbert Christian also won't see the field for a while: their next match is against Bourgade Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th. Gilbert Christian will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
