Basketball Recap: Winside Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Walthill came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Winside, but Ellie Topp wouldn't allow it. The Winside Wildcats had just enough and edged the Walthill Blujays out 43-40 thanks in part to Topp, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

Jerzi Carlson was another key player, putting up six points along with five boards and five steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Winside's win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-9. As for Walthill, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Winside Wildcats duke it out with the Osmond Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Walthill, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Walthill is facing Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at the right time seeing as Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
