Baseball Recap: Elbert Takes a Loss

Elbert extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-9. They came up short against the Kiowa Indians, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-10 last Tuesday.

Jeremiah Lachausse was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

As for Kiowa, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the game before.

On Kiowa's side, Ryker Robinett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Robinett has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kiowa let Austin Hundley and Rowan Golden run wild. Hundley went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Golden went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Hundley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caden Watt, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elbert will take on Cripple Creek-Victor at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pioneers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kiowa, they will face off against Simla at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cubs have averaged an impressive 12.1 runs per game this season.
