Basketball Game Preview: New Site Royals vs. Shannon Red Raiders

The New Site Royals will face off against the Shannon Red Raiders at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Shannon will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: New Site extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Royals came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 57-52 W against Thrasher.

New Site's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Johna Lindley, who posted 15 points and three steals. The matchup was Lindley's third in a row with at least 15 points. Kayleigh Knight was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shannon). They really took it to West Union for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-34 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-19.

The win got Shannon back to even at 3-3. As for New Site, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

New Site and Shannon were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in November of 2023, but New Site came up empty-handed after a 57-56 defeat. Can the Royals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
