Softball Recap: Brunswick Find Success

Brunswick won the last time they faced Smithsburg and things went their way on Monday too. The Railroaders came out on top against the Leopards by a score of 10-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Railroaders.

Kassidy Barnhouse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Emy Minnick and Tatum Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Minnick went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Smith went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two hits gave Smith a new career-high. Sienna Russo was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Brunswick's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Smithsburg, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Brunswick will face off against Fort Hill at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Smithsburg, they will challenge Clear Spring at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Leopards are facing the Blazers at the right time seeing as the Blazers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
