Baseball Recap: El Toro Now 8-2 over Last Ten Games

El Toro's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Citrus Valley Blackhawks as they made off with a 12-4 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Chargers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Grayson Goers looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Blake Rajan and Logan Merwin did most of the damage at the plate: Rajan scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Merwin scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Merwin a new career-high in RBI (three). Nathan Broesamle was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

El Toro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Citrus Valley only posted a batting average of .208.

El Toro has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Citrus Valley, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Coming up, El Toro is taking a road trip to take on Mission Viejo at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Citrus Valley, they will host Yucaipa at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Blackhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
