Football Recap: Deerfield-Windsor Knights vs. Maclay Marauders

After flying high against Valwood last Friday, Deerfield-Windsor came back down to earth. The Deerfield-Windsor Knights fell 28-21 to the Maclay Marauders on Friday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Marauders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Despite the loss, Deerfield-Windsor still got an impressive performance from Lane Sceals, who threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns.

Even if they lost, Deerfield-Windsor's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Liam Elliott and Cole Jones, who racked up four sacks between them.

Maclay had a senior duo take command as George Grant threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns and Nash Beshears gained 129 total yards and two touchdowns. Beshears also set a new season high mark in receiving yards with 126.

Deerfield-Windsor's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Maclay, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
