Softball Recap: River Falls Takes a Loss

River Falls lost a heartbreaker to Menomonie when they met back in April of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Thursday. The Wildcats came up short against the Mustangs, falling 11-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-4 on Tuesday.

AVA LARSEN made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

River Falls has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Menomonie, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

Looking ahead, River Falls will take on Shell Lake at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lakers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.14 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Menomonie, they will face off against Superior at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
