Softball Recap: Brunswick Dragons vs. Morse Shipbuilders
Brunswick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 9-5 to the Morse Shipbuilders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dragons of the 6-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.
Julianna Morin and Ava Zimmerman stepped up to the plate in a big way. Morin went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run, while Zimmerman went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That RBI was Zimmerman's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Maxim, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Brunswick's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Morse, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brunswick will take on Bangor at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Dragons' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Morse, they will face off against Lincoln Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
