Preview: Alexander Cougars vs. Holy Innocents Episcopal Golden Bears
Two dominant forwards in Braedan Lue and Caleb Wilson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After both having extra time off, the Alexander Cougars and the Holy Innocents Episcopal Golden Bears will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th. Alexander is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Alexander scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Friday. They really took it to Newnan for the full four quarters, racking up a 89-45 win on the road. With Alexander ahead 55-21 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Alexander's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allen Stoddard, who scored 20 points along with three steals and three blocks. Stoddard hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Gregory Dunson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.
Meanwhile, even though Clarkston scored an imposing 61 points last Friday, Holy Innocents Episcopal still came out on top. Holy Innocents Episcopal blew past Clarkston, posting a 90-61 win on the road. The victory was just what Holy Innocents Episcopal needed coming off of a 94-57 defeat in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Holy Innocents Episcopal's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Hopkins, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds.
Alexander's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Holy Innocents Episcopal, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
