Recap: Maud Cardinals vs. Harts Bluff Bulldogs
The Maud Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 52-26 walloping at the hands of Harts Bluff. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Maud has suffered since December 2, 2023.
Despite the loss, Maud saw an underclassman step up: Mallorie Bishop scored 12 points. That was a full 46.2% of Maud's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Harts Bluff's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaci Caplinger, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Caplinger scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Clay, who scored 14 points.
Maud has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Harts Bluff, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-12 record this season.
Maud will head out on the road to take on Clarksville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Clarksville will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Harts Bluff will take on Bowie at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
