Baseball Recap: Union City Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ramsey, Union City was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bloomfield Bengals 6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Soaring Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Jean Calderon was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. LJ Santiago was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

Union City has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Bloomfield, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Union City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bloomfield, they will welcome Belleville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
