Basketball Game Preview: Fort Bend Elkins Knights vs. Ridge Point Panthers

The Fort Bend Elkins Knights will head out to challenge the Ridge Point Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Fort Bend Elkins is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Fort Bend Hightower: they outscored them in every quarter. Fort Bend Elkins walked away with a 58-46 win over Fort Bend Hightower on Saturday.

Fort Bend Elkins' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Shotlow, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Allen, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Ridge Point unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 70-61 to Fort Bend Austin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 103rd).

Fort Bend Elkins' win bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Ridge Point, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 17-6.

Fort Bend Elkins skirted past Ridge Point 60-57 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Will Fort Bend Elkins repeat their success, or does Ridge Point have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
