Baseball Game Preview: Sterling Rangers vs. Beaumont United Timberwolves

Sterling is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Beaumont United a nine-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Sterling Rangers will look to defend their home field against the Beaumont United Timberwolves at 11:30 a.m. The game will give Sterling their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.

Sterling came into this matchup off a tough seven-run defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Liberty by a score of 6-4 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Rangers have suffered since April 11, 2024.

Sterling got a good showing from Sawyer Wells, who struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave Wells a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Sterling saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Favors, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Favors has posted since back in March of 2024. Another was Joesph Franco, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Beaumont United came up short against Lake Charles College Prep on Thursday and fell 8-3.

Beaumont United's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Sterling, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Everything went Sterling's way against Beaumont United in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, as Sterling made off with a 19-0 win. Does Sterling have another victory up their sleeve, or will Beaumont United turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
