Basketball Recap: Bloomfield Triumphs

Bloomfield won the last time they faced Weequahic and things went their way on Saturday too. The Bengals snuck past the Indians with a 66-61 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bengals.

Weequahic's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ekaou Harris, who went 7-for-12 en route to 21 points. Harris has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last three times he's played. Avery Cherilus-Rogers was another key player, shooting 40% from the field to rack up 20 points.

Bloomfield's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Weequahic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloomfield will host Manchester Regional at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Weequahic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against KIPP Newark Lab at 11:30 a.m. on Monday.
