The Las Lomas Knights will challenge the Benicia Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Las Lomas is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Campolindo just ended the team's 14-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-2. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 25-16 in the first set.
Las Lomas started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 16-25, 17-25, 25-11, 25-21, 15-13.
Meanwhile, Benicia came up short against College Park on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
While Benicia ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-22.
Las Lomas will have to keep a close watch on Zoe Cohen and Lydia Flanagan, a pair of players who had a big impact on Benicia's prior game. Cohen had 13 digs and two assists, while Flanagan had four assists and three aces. Cohen is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last ten games she's played.
Las Lomas' defeat dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Benicia, their loss dropped their record down to 16-14.
Las Lomas couldn't quite get it done against Benicia in their previous matchup back in September as they fell 3-1.
