Softball Recap: Frankton Starts off Right with Win over Hamilton Heights

Frankton had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Hamilton Heights Huskies by a score of 8-3 on Wednesday. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 8-1 victory the Huskies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Paige Parker and Zoey Coppess were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Parker tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Coppess pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Parker went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Coppess scored a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Stanley, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Lowyn Coffey was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Frankton has already played their next matchup, a 14-1 win against Knightstown on the 27th. As for Hamilton Heights, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-2 defeat against Lapel on the 28th.
