Basketball Recap: St. Pius X Comes Up Short

St. Pius X lost against Smithville back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The St. Pius X Warriors took a 45-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Smithville Warriors. While St. Pius X didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Smithville 14-7 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why St. Pius X lost, don't look at Kate Sell. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points and five boards. Caroline McCoy was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven rebounds.

St. Pius X's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Smithville, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

St. Pius X wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 40-37 victory against Maryville on the 16th. Smithville has also already played their next matchup (against Oak Park), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
