Basketball Game Preview: Gateway Eagles vs. East Lee County Jaguars

The Gateway Eagles will face off against the East Lee County Jaguars on Wednesday.

Gateway is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering First Baptist Academy just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Lions are ranked 87th).

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and East Lee County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They snuck past Ida Baker with a 51-45 victory on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Jaguars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Gateway's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for East Lee County, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-16.

Gateway strolled past East Lee County in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a score of 81-66. Will Gateway repeat their success, or does East Lee County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
