Baseball Recap: Fortuna Takes a Loss

Fortuna extended their losing streak to 11 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-15 in the process. They lost 14-4 to the McKinleyville Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent loss being a 7-0 defeat on Saturday.

As for McKinleyville, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

For McKinleyville's part, Bryce Sargent was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave Sargent a new career-high in RBI (four). Riles Egbert was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Fortuna will head out on the road to challenge Del Norte at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for McKinleyville, they will host Eureka at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
