Recap: Parrish Community Bulls vs. Palmetto Tigers

The Parrish Community Bulls waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Palmetto with a sharp 54-30 win. Given Parrish Community's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while Palmetto is ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Mary Portwood, who scored 21 points along with two steals. She is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Decker, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and three steals.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Saniya Moody, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. Moody hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Sanaii Rich was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Parrish Community pushed their record up to 13-5 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Palmetto, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Parrish Community will head out on the road to face off against Bradenton Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Palmetto, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hardee at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Hardee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Tuesday.
