After each having a week off, the Folsom Bulldogs and the Downey Knights will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Folsom sitting on seven straight wins and Downey on five.
If Folsom beats Downey with 42 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Bulldogs simply couldn't be stopped last Friday as they easily beat Granite Bay 42-14. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.

Ryder Lyons continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 313 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punching in one rushing score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (163.2). Jameson Powell did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 134 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Downey). They claimed a resounding 57-7 victory over Enochs. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Knights with their most commanding win of the season.
Folsom better keep an eye on Elias Haynes. He was instrumental in Downey's win, rushing for 182 yards and four TDs on only eight carries, while also catching one score. Haynes has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Julian Masaniai was another key passer, throwing for 158 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Downey was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 169 rushing yards in nine consecutive matchups.
One reason for the win was Downey's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Enochs' QB won't forget Mark Sanchez anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Downey got some further help from Francisco Diaz: he picked up a sack and made five total tackles (2.0 for loss) in addition to snagging an interception.
Folsom's record now sits at 9-1. As for Downey, their record is now 7-3.
Everything came up roses for Folsom against Downey when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 68-28 win. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
