Moreno Valley is a perfect 5-0 against Rancho Christian since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. While Moreno Valley's victory against Citrus Hill wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings won by a run and slipped past the Hawks 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since February 27th.
Sophia Miramontes and Mia Licon did most of the damage at the plate: Miramontes scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Licon went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. What's more, Miramontes posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Amera Collins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Rancho Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 18-8 to Perris.
Hailey Whitman and Kaydence Erickson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Whitman went 3-for-4 with three runs and one triple, while Erickson scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Alina Schannette was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Moreno Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Rancho Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Moreno Valley hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Rancho Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Moreno Valley took their win against Rancho Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
