Basketball Game Preview: Wakefield Trojans vs. Lutheran-Northeast Eagles

The Wakefield Trojans will take on the Lutheran-Northeast Eagles at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Wakefield is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 70-36 loss at the hands of the Bobcats. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-19.

Wakefield might have lost, but man, Jacob Borg was a machine: he went 9 of 17 en route to 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Lutheran-Northeast faced off against Pierce on Friday. Lutheran-Northeast took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pierce. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wakefield will need focus on slowing down Gavin Feddern, one of several Lutheran-Northeast players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 of 9 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of D'Artagnan Taylor, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points.

Wakefield's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Lutheran-Northeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Wakefield suffered a grim 56-34 defeat to Lutheran-Northeast in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wakefield was down 47-21.
