Basketball Recap: Oley Valley Starts Season with Loss at Home

Oley Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 59-50 to the Antietam Mountaineers on Monday. The Lynx's loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row dating back to last season.

Antietam's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julious Williams led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. That's the most points Williams has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonas Coste, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points along with five assists and five steals.

Antietam now has a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oley Valley will face off against Hamburg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Antietam, they will host Kutztown at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
